How did Kim Kardashian and Kanye West decide on baby North's name? The answer might surprise you!

Kim Kardashian and Kanye West were having trouble deciding on a baby name, so they turned to the press for some advice! 
 
Life & Style has learned that the reality star and her baby daddy originally heard the name 'North' from media reports suggesting the name, but nixed it two weeks before her June 15 birth.
 
 
A source reveals, "The couple hadn't decided upon a name until a day after their daughter was born." 
 
Kim gave birth to a healthy baby girl on June 15 at Cedars-Sinai Medical Center in LA following a difficult public pregnancy. 
 
 
Although the famous duo laughed off the name at first, the source adds, "It felt right to name her North once she was born."
 
Another insider tells Life & Style that the name is said be more inspirational than directional — and that  "Kim and Kanye believe North is their highest point together as a couple." 
 
 
While on The View yesterday, Grandma Kris Jenner revealed the very same thing.
 
“The way [Kim] explained it to me was North means ‘highest power,’ and she says that North is [Kim and Kanye’s] highest point together,” said the momager.
 
It's certain that baby North is now the star of her famous family!

Some people may be criticizing baby North West's name, but not UncleRob Kardashian or Grandma Kris Jenner.
While on Ryan Seacrest's radio show this morning, Rob shared his advice to new parents Kim Kardashian and Kanye West when it came to choosing the name.
“I told Kim and Kanye this: I’m like, ‘Yo, people are always going to talk whether it’s good or bad. There’s always going to be the haters, but do what you guys feel.’ Like, you know everyone’s going to say, ‘Oh, you’re coming up with some weird celebrity, crazy name.’ You know how it is," he shared. "[But] North West, it sounds cool! [And] North is the highest point, so it has a lot of meaning to it.”
Earlier today, his mom, Kris, was on The View and expressed her approval as well.
"I love the name North. I'm pro-North, absolutely," she told Barbara Walters and the rest of the ladies. "The way [Kim] explained it to me was North means 'highest power,' and she says that North is [Kim and Kanye's] highest point together. And I thought that was really sweet."
As Life & Style reported yesterday, Kanye's BFF Jay-Z even gave the name a thumbs up when asked about it.
But not everyone in Hollywood is a fan.
"I lost my office pool. I had Ratings Spike Kardashian-West," actor Jason Biggs joked on Twitter. Comedienne Kathy Griffin also poked fun, "They've won the prize 4 most ridiculous celebrity baby name,& lemme tell u, it wasnt easy. Kudos."
Regardless of what anyone has to say, Kim and Kanye are enjoying this time with their newborn, who was born on June 15. And Uncle Rob can't wait to gift his niece!
"I'm actually looking for like a giant animal to get North," he told Ryan. "The baby came a month early. It's so small, she needs a big stuffed animal."
